Send us your news!

With the RSC website opened, we are going to be highlighting and featuring news from our own back-yard where possible.  There are so many mods, add-ons and new announcements made within sub-sections of the vast RSC Forum, that we can’t keep up with all of them so, we need your help!

If you want to post something that could be considered sim-racing news, then drop us a message, we’ll check out your story and possibly make it front-page news on RSC. We hope to be able to present lots of smaller, community-centered stories alongside the big, ‘breaking’ sim-racing news that you can read here, there and everywhere!

This is your RSC, so we want to put your news in the limelight.

Codemasters Confirms Logitech G27

Back in April, I put up a first article about a rumored successor to Logitech’s popular G25 steering wheel. Apart from a part number that had already been assigned to the wheel and some dummy entries in some web shops, no official confirmation on the new product was available though.

This changes now as Codemasters has just released a list of steering wheels that will be compatible with their upcoming Colin McRae DIRT 2 title, including the Logitech G27!

An excerpt from the list:

Logitech G25 Racing Wheel

Logitech G27 Racing Wheel

Logitech Driving Force Pro

As you can see, the G25 is also listed, meaning this can’t be a typo of some sort. It’s unknown whether Codemasters intentionally released this info or if it’s a mistake of some kind, either way it’s great news for the steering wheel market. Right now, there are absolutely no specs or info available on the G27 other that it does exist – Stay tuned for more on Logitech’s newest wheel.

World Sportscar 1970 Tracks – Released

Following the release of their World Sportscar 1970 mod for rFactor, CSGT has now released three matching tracks from the 1970 World Sportscar Championship schedule.

The tracks let us race on 1970 versions of Sebring, Daytona and Le Mans, giving the prototypes and GTs a proper historic playing field.

All three tracks are still beta, Daytona and Sebring are pretty much bug free though. Le Mans shouldn’t be used for serious racing against the AI yet as the AIW is still work in progress, the track does not have proper night lighting either.

Based on the Porsche 993 and powered by a 600hp flat-6 engine, the 911 GT1 was Porsche’s weapon of choice for the 1997 FIA GT season. The car competed against notable race cars like the Mercedes CLK-GTR and the McLaren F1 GTR, enjoying limited success.

Successor to World Super GT for GTR 2, World Super GT 2 will bring some of of the most legendary GT cars of the 90s as well as Super GT GT500 class machinery to rFactor 2.

Gran Turismo 5 – Date to be Revealed “Soon”

In a recent interview with Autoweek magazine, creator Kazunori Yamauchi commented that “We will give the release date of Gran Turismo 5 soon.”

Even though soon is not exactly a very exact term, a good opportunity to announce the release date is coming up – The Tokyo Game Show in late September. Not only is this home ground for the Tokyo-based Polyphony Digital Studios, the Game Show was used to unveil Gran Turismo 5 Prologue’s release date two years ago!

Following a very impressive new trailer shown at the E3, Gran Turismo fans are now waiting for further info on the fifth installment of the popular GT series. While Turn 10’s Forza Motorsport 3 is already set to be released in October, it still remains unclear on how long Playstation 3 users have to wait for GT5.
