A few days ago, iRacing released a new build for its motorsport simulator. With the new build comes the new Oulton Park, pictured above. It has eight different layouts and costs $14.95. Several cars also get the new tire model that rolled out in iRacing 2.0.
While no new cars were released in this build, iRacing announced today that a new car is on the way in 2012. iRacing announced with its partner Classic Team Lotus the 1967 Lotus 49.
This isn’t the first time the Lotus 49 has been in the hands of developer Dave Kaemmer. His team created an early digital version of the Lotus 49 for Grand Prix Legends in 1998. iRacing’s engineers will shortly begin measuring the Lotus 49. The team puts the car’s targeted release at the later half of 2012.
In the meantime, check out what the engineers and track scanners have done for iRacing with a comparison video of the real and virtual Oulton Park:
What do you think of the laser scanned track? Excited about the Lotus 49 coming?
