As spotted on online retailers such as Newegg, GT5 seems to be destined to become a repackaged product called Gran Turismo 5 XL Edition. While neither Sony nor Polyphony Digital have made an official announcement about this game, online retailers are listing it to be released on January 17, 2012.
While also not confirmed, one can wonder if this will be the same as the GT 5 Spec II repackage only for Japan markets AndriaSang reported earlier this month. This Japanese version would contain the full game, the October 11 Spec 2.0 update, and a product code for downloading the “Complete Pack” download content that was released on October 18.
Unaccounted for in the Japanese re-package is the kart related DLC pack and the 2.02 update and DLC. Hopefully the USA release will be more encompassing to attract old and new fans. However, with a release date of January 17, it’s possible this disc was printed before the late December DLC was released.
The best thing about online games, patches, and downloads is that Polyphony can still offer more content to purchasers of Gran Turismo 5 XL Edition. We’ll update you once all of the content is announced for GT5 XL.
