The Eutechnyx-developed NASCAR The Game 2011 will be available to download in Europe for PlayStation 3 tomorrow. It arrives at a very budgeted price of €9.99 with the patches and DLC already included. PS Plus users will get a 20% discount.
No announcement of other European console or PC/Mac releases have been announced. Regardless, I consider this to be a test of sorts by the publisher. This very American sports racing game arrives a few months before NASCAR The Game: Inside Line, “after a huge number of requests from European NASCAR fans,” states the NASCAR The Game Facebook page.
Community Manager Neil Courtney followed up. While he didn’t comment on the Xbox 360 release, he said, “There are currently no plans for a PC version of NTG 2011. We are investigating our options for a PC version of Inside Line but again there are currently no plans.”
I have no doubt that if the publisher (presumably Activision) sees enough sales, this will convince them to release Inside Line outside of North America. I do feel these numbers could be misleading, as several fans have already imported the region-free USA version. Fans may also hesitate to buy this game, knowing the Inside Line sequel is coming so soon, if only as another import.
